What happens if I arrive late for my scheduled session?
If your class has already started, please make certain that the instructor knows you have arrived. If you are riding in a group lesson, it may be some time before the instructor can interrupt the class safely in order to mount you. Please make every effort to be prompt.
What do I do if I cannot ride or volunteer for my regularly scheduled session?
Call the office at 603-497-2343 please let the office know as soon as possible that you will not be able to attend your session, so that your volunteers can be notified. If you are volunteering a substitute must be found to take your place.
Are sessions ever canceled?
Since we have an indoor arena, it is rare that sessions are cancelled. If weather causes unsafe driving conditions, or the inside temperature of the barn drops below 20 degrees or rises above 90 degrees with significant humidity, sessions will be canceled. A message will be relayed on the recording at 497-2343.
How can I avoid being on the wait list?
To minimize the chance of being on the wait list, indicate any and all times that you are available to ride and return your registration form as soon as possible. Do not miss the deadline!
How are riders assigned to sessions?
The staff evaluates the rider's needs, disability, age, riding experience, availability and volunteer availability when making session assignments.
Can I sign up for just one or two riding sessions?
When registered, you are signed up for an entire term. We suggest that you participate in each of the sessions to gain maximum benefits. If you are a volunteer and cannot commit to an entire term, please ask about working as a substitute volunteer or as a volunteer for special events.
What should I wear?
Layer your clothing so that you can adjust to the changes in weather conditions. Boots or hard soled shoes and long pants a re a must for riders. Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes but sandals are not appropriate. Please keep long hair tied back and remove earrings or necklaces for your safety.
Can I bring treats for the horses?
Yes, the UpReach horses love apples and carrots. Please limit to one treat per horse so that they do not become ill, and make certain that you keep your hands flat to avoid your fingers being nibbled.
